Description
The Jean Wagner Sociocultural Center, located in Mulhouse, is much more than just a meeting place; it has been a true pillar of the local community since its establishment in 1964. Born from the initiative of the residents of the Wagner district, this center was designed as a space for solidarity, collective participation, and support for the residents in their daily lives.
Covering several neighborhoods in Mulhouse, including Wagner, Wolf, Vauban, Neppert, Sellier, and Waldner, the Jean Wagner Sociocultural Center has evolved over the decades to meet the changing needs of its population while remaining true to its founding values: secularism, the fight against discrimination, the strengthening of social ties, and equitable access to culture and education.
The current building, known as "L’Origami," was inaugurated in 2013, replacing the old premises to better adapt to new urban and social demands. The center hosts various activity hubs catering to all age groups, from early childhood care at "Le Moulin des Couleurs" for ages 0-3, to activities for teenagers and young adults. Each initiative is designed to promote autonomy, citizenship, and personal development for participants.
The teams at the Jean Wagner Sociocultural Center, led by a committed board of directors, work closely with local authorities to offer services and activities that align with the needs expressed by the residents. These range from woodworking workshops for adults to various clubs for young people, and collective projects aimed at improving the quality of life in these neighborhoods.
The Jean Wagner Sociocultural Center is a dynamic space where everyone can find their place, get involved, and contribute to the building of a fairer and more united society, a place where the community builds together.
